Major Interstate Widening Project Employs Free-standing J-J Hooks Barrier
If there’s a major roadwork project underway in the Mid-Atlantic region, it’s a good bet you’ll see Smith-Midland Corporation’s J-J Hooks Safety Barrier guiding motorists and protecting workers. The Virginia Department of Transportation and contractor Vecellio & Grogan deployed several miles of J-J Hooks for its 2-year, $37.2 million project to widen Interstate 64 from four to six lanes, eastbound from Route 623 to Route 271 (Pouncey Tract Road) and westbound from Route 271 (Pouncey Tract Road) to Route 622. The additional through lanes were constructed to the inside of existing I-64 in both directions. The 4.52-mile project is located in both Henrico and Goochland counties.
