Smith-Midland will produce over 23 miles of J-J Hooks safety barrier for major highway project.

MIDLAND, VA – August 1, 2017 - Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID). The Lane Construction Corporation has awarded Smith-Midland the contract to supply over 124,000 LF of J-J Hooks precast concrete safety barrier for the I-395 Express Lane VDOT project in Northern Virginia. The I-395 design-build project will extend the Express Lanes along an eight mile section of I-395 in Fairfax and Arlington Counties. The work is expected to significantly reduce the congestion of commuter traffic into Washington, DC.

In total, 15,000 tons of concrete will be provided by Smith-Midland for the Metro Silver Line phase II project, through the end of 2016.

CSS Provides Barrier For Vehicle Deterrence During Nuclear Security Summit

MIDLAND, Va. – Concrete Safety Systems is providing 5,400 linear feet of the company's precast concrete barrier to help control the flow of vehicles in Washington during this week's Nuclear Security Summit.

Capitol 4th of July celebration featured J-J Hooks barrier

J-J Hooks Barrier in D.C.

MIDLAND, Va. – Concrete Safety Systems, which rents J-J Hooks concrete barriers, provided 1,320 linear feet of precast concrete security barrier to the National Park Service in Washington, D.C. for their Independence Day celebration.

The barrier was used to control vehicles and pedestrians and to provide security for people attending the event.

This is the fifth year that Concrete Safety Systems (CSS) was the sole provider of concrete barriers for the festivities. Barriers were placed in various locations around D.C. including the Mall, the Washington Monument and near the Capitol. Installation occurred on the night of June 30th to minimize disruption to traffic and tourists. The barrier was picked up after the celebration on July 7th.

Smith-Midland Awarded Largest Single Barrier Contract

J-J Hooks Highway Traffic Barrier

MIDLAND, Va. – Smith-Midland Corporation of Midland, Virginia, was recently awarded the contract to provide 87,000 linear feet of J-J Hooks Highway Traffic Barrier for use on the I-495 HOT LANES Project in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia. This is the largest barrier order ever received by the company.

The project will construct express toll lanes, to be known as "HOT LANES," to facilitate traffic movement on the I-495 Beltway. The total cost of the project, which is a Flour-Lane joint venture, is estimated to be more than $2.5 million. "The customer chose our J-J Hooks Barrier over other competing barrier because J-J Hooks are easier to install and remove, saving the company time and money," says Matthew Smith, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

JJ Hooks Precast Concrete Barriers in Place for Super Bowl Sunday

MIDLAND, Va. – J.E. Hill Precast which manufactures, sells, and rents J-J Hooks concrete barriers, provided 11,000 linear feet of precast concrete security barriers for use in Tampa at the Super Bowl celebration.

One hundred (100) tractor trailer loads of temporary barrier were delivered from Leesburg, Florida, located approximately 80 miles from Tampa where Super Bowl XLIII was held. The barrier walls, installed in phases, completely encircled the stadium as mandated by the Homeland Security Department. The wall protected Raymond James Stadium, the displays outside the stadium and funneled pedestrian traffic through "chutes" for security checks. The rental contract for the concrete barriers was valued at over $250,000.
