Smith-Midland Sells 12 Buildings via GSA Contract
May 15, 2012 | Easi-Set Buildings
MIDLAND, Va. – Smith-Midland Corp. recently finished delivering twelve 12 x 20 x 8 Easi-Set buildings to the Department of Defense. After initially pricing the buildings to be delivered to Blossom Point, MD, the DOD changed the location to Crane, IN. The job went to bid, and SMC was awarded the project worth over $300,000 for all 12 buildings including outfitting, delivery, and setting says George Sharikas, Sales Manager of SMC Utility Division.
Six of the Easi-Set buildings were used as office space, four for shop space, and two for hazmat storage. All buildings included epoxy coating on all of the interior surfaces, as well as HVAC systems. Many of the buildings included an electrical package, some had roll-up doors, and the two hazmat buildings included explosion proof electrical packages, said Mr. Sharikas. All 12 buildings had an exposed-aggregate finish.
The buildings were erected and outfitted in the yard in Midland, VA and were delivered with low-boy trailers to Crane, IN. They were shipped in three shipments with 4 buildings in each delivery. The tractor trailers required flag cars for the roughly 650 mile journey. Harold Cross, a long-time truck driver for SMC made all three trips and helped oversee the three deliveries and the setting of all of the Easi-Set buildings.
