Historic army post to feature J-J Hooks barrier
May 30, 2007 | J-J Hooks
MIDLAND, Va. – Smith-Midland Corp., manufacturer of the J-J Hooks barrier connection system, will provide 2,184 linear feet of its precast concrete barrier to the Department of the Army for use at a government installation.
The barrier will be used to guard, separate and direct traffic at the main entrance to the base.
Because the barrier will be placed in a high-profile location, in close proximity to historic brick buildings, some of which were constructed in the Civil War, the 182 pieces of barrier will feature a brick-imprinted façade stained a brick-red color. Installation is expected to occur the week of June 25.
The contract, awarded last week, is worth more than $115,000.00.
The J-J Hooks barrier connection system has been crash tested to National Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 Standards. Self-aligning, identical ended J-J Hook connectors allow for quick, easy installation of the barrier. There is no loose hardware, permitting a single section to be easily removed without disturbing adjacent sections and eliminating the possibility of lost, stolen or damaged parts. This is important for easy emergency access and protection against tampering and vandalism. J-J Hooks can be used as a temporary or permanent barrier system.
