May 18, 2005 | Concrete Safety Systems News
Midland, Va. – Smith-Midland Corporation (OTC BB, Boston Stock Exchange: SMID, SMID) deployed three installation crews to The World Bank in downtown Washington, DC, the evening of Thursday, August 12, 2004.
Smith-Midland crews provided J-J Hooks security barrier around five separate World Bank buildings in Washington, DC. The 47 trailers of barrier were off-loaded and each crew utilized a Gradall type excavator to set a safety perimeter of barrier along the sidewalks around the World Bank buildings.
The crews worked in record time providing fast and efficient service and ensuring the World Bank employees safe and secure working conditions.
The World Bank and Centennial Contractors selected Smith-Midland Corporation as the contractor for this project because of its extensive experience in perimeter security projects. In the past, Smith-Midland has provided perimeter security barriers for The White House, the State Department, the United States Capitol building, and 4 branches of the armed services: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.
The J-J Hooks barrier connection system has been crash tested to NCHRP-350 standards. Self-aligning, identical ended “J” hook connectors allow the products installation to be quick and easy. There is no loose hardware, permitting a single section to be easily removed without disturbing adjacent sections and eliminating the possibility of lost, stolen or damaged parts. This is important for easy emergency access and protection against tampering and vandalism. J-J Hooks can be used as a temporary or permanent barrier system.
