Smith-Carolina Plant Announces Major Expansion

MIDLAND, VA – May 4, 2018 - Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID). Our North Carolina precast concrete plant, Smith-Carolina, will expand in Rockingham County with a larger manufacturing facility on 46 acres in Reidsville. The Company plans to invest more than $3 million in a new 15,000 square-foot building including machinery and equipment, with additional space available for future expansions. Smith-Carolina also plans to create 10 new full-time jobs by the end of 2018. The new facility will be located on Carrot Road in Reidsville, NC.

Smith-Midland signs largest contract in Company’s history

MIDLAND, VA – April 12, 2018 - Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID) project announcement. FAM Construction, LLC (a Ferrovial Agroman US and Allan Myers joint venture) has awarded Smith-Midland the contract to supply 900,000 square feet of SoftSound noise absorptive precast concrete sound wall panels for the I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes project in Northern Virginia. The 22.5 mile long I-66 project will provide two express lanes alongside three regular lanes from I-495 to Route 29 in Gainesville along with other amenities and space reserved for future transit options. The Midland, Virginia plant will begin production in mid-2018, with final project completion scheduled for 2022.

Smith-Midland wins $3.2M SoftSound project in Northern Virginia

MIDLAND, VA – March 28, 2018 - Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID). Civil Wall Solutions (a division of Lane Construction) has awarded Smith-Midland the contract to supply SoftSoundTM sound absorptive and reflective noise wall panels for the I-395 Express Lane VDOT project in Northern Virginia. The $336-million I-395 design-build project will extend the Express Lanes along an eight mile section of I-395 in Fairfax and Arlington Counties. The over $3.2 million sound wall contract is a continuation of the project to which Smith-Midland initially provided 23 miles of J-J Hooks precast concrete safety barrier.

Smith-Midland wins AGC of DC award for Smithsonian National Zoo project

Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID) – The Associated General Contractors Association (AGC) has awarded Smith-Midland the 2017 Design-Build Subcontractor Award for its manufacturing of the Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park Retaining Wall in Washington, DC. The 850 foot long x 30 foot high simulated stone retaining wall was built to replace existing structures along an extensive drop off on the entrance road above parking lot C. General Contractor Hensel Phelps worked with Smith-Midland to design the precast concrete panels, and to complete the welding and wall erection. Originally designed to be cast in place, Hensel Phelps rethought the process, proposing a value engineering option involving the use of a shotcrete wall and placement of precast concrete panels as a facing. This change allowed the main visitor access road above the wall to remain open throughout the process.

Chinese explore partnership with Smith-Midland Corp.

Smith-Midland Corp. recently hosted a six-person delegation from one of China’s largest construction companies to discuss a “technology partnership.” Nantong Sijian Construction Group Chairman Geng Yuhua and his team visited Fauquier for two days in mid-April. Based in Jiangsu Province, NSCG has 70,000 employees working in construction, including precast concrete, Smith-Midland’s specialty.

Smith-Midland purchases South Carolina precast concrete plant

MIDLAND, Va. – August 26, 2016 — The Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID) has opened a precast concrete manufacturing plant near Columbia, S.C. The newly formed subsidiary will be known as Smith-Columbia.

“During the second quarter the company was successful in closing its purchase agreement for the acquisition of 39 acres of land and approximately 40,000 square feet of production and office space comprising the new Columbia precast concrete plant,” Chairman and CEO Rodney Smith said. “Since February, we have leased the facility until the closing date to produce on a $3.5 million contract for barrier, which will run through the end of 2016.
