Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQX: SMID) project announcement. The Smith-Columbia plant in Hopkins, South Carolina has signed with Dragados USA, Inc., a top 10 North American transportation contractor, to produce noise wall and posts for the NCDOT US 70 project in Durham County, North Carolina.
The $136.12 million road project will convert approximately 5 miles of U.S. 70 – from Lynn Road in Durham, NC to west of T.W. Alexander Drive into a freeway.
Smith-Columbia will produce approximately 15,000 square feet of reflective precast concrete noise wall panels and 2,000 linear feet of precast concrete posts for the project. The noise wall will be used to mitigate the increased traffic as both a sight-line and noise barrier for adjacent neighborhoods.
Smith-Columbia’s production began in March and is projected to be completed by the end of May 2020. The entire project is expected to be completed by Dragados in 2024.
