Midland, Va. - Concrete Safety Systems™, which rents J-J Hooks concrete barrier, provided 1,320 linear feet of precast concrete security barrier to the National Park Service in Washington, D.C. for the Independence Day celebration.
The barrier was used to control vehicles and pedestrians and to provide security for people attending the event.
Concrete Safety Systems was the sole provider of concrete barriers for this year’s festivities, as they were for last year’s. Barriers were placed in various locations around D.C., including the Mall, the Washington Monument and near the Capitol. Installation occurred on the night of June 28 to minimize disruption to traffic and tourists. The barrier was picked up after the celebration on the night of July 5th.
The J-J Hooks barrier connection system has been crash tested to National Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 standards. Self-aligning, identical ended J-J Hook connectors allow for quick, easy installation of the barrier. There is no loose hardware, permitting a single section to be easily removed without disturbing adjacent sections and eliminating the possibility of lost, stolen or damaged parts. This is important for easy emergency access and protection against tampering and vandalism. J-J Hooks can be used as a temporary or permanent barrier system.
